PRISON PLACEMENT & CONDITIONS

The BOP has wide discretion on where to house an inmate. However, since the passage of the First Step Act, the BOP is required to keep an inmates within 500 driving miles from their release residence, if at all possible. In addition, the BOP is required to keep accurate custody classification records that are reviewed and updated regularly.
This is done to ensure that inmates are housed at facilities best suited for their individual release needs and to maintain ties with their family. If your loved one is being denied placement at a specific facility or within a specific program, McCracken Stoll & Associates can help!
